Everyone Needs "Down Time"

On facebook I receive posts from The Writer's Circle and my favorite quote that I've read is, "The hardest part of writing is getting the first word down." It never fails to help me start or continue to write when I am stuck in a scene.
Although I am throughly enjoying writing, I know I still have a lot to learn.  If you have any suggestions creating down time or writing I would love to hear them!

I am one of those types of people who can’t sit still for five minutes.  Yes, that kind.  The irritating kind.  The kind that drives my husband crazy.  I mention this because many times people will ask me what I do during my down time.

I’m embarrassed to say that I don’t have much down time or probably more honestly I don’t make time for down time.  This is also probably one of the reasons why I suffer from anxiety.  I look like I have it all together but really my mind is reeling in a million different directions at any given time.

I have many things that I enjoy such as traveling, walking, writing, reading, photography, and of course spending time with my family.  With the exception of spending time with my family, I don’t have enough hours in the day to do the things that I enjoy once I finish working.

So how do I find time to write? Well I’ve discovered it’s a great stress reliever and it allows me to travel to a completely different destination.  I get lost in the words, my characters, my ideas.  It’s a pretty awesome feeling and when I’m finished for the night I’ve had my down time, my relaxation time.
